Anne Witty.
Anne Witty is a poet, essayist, and museum curator whose work has been published in various literary journals and magazines.
Anne’s museum work focuses on maritime culture and American history, while branching into art, Arctic studies, and marine science. Her writing likewise explores interrelated spheres: the coast’s liminal places, history, material culture, family history, and the natural environment.
Her poetry has appeared in The New Guard Vols. IV and V (in which her piece “Contact Sheets” won the Knightville Poetry contest); Cabildo Quarterly; The Catch: Writings from Downeast Maine; and the “Deep Water” series in the Maine Sunday Telegram. Nonfiction credits include Wooden Boat and Down East magazines, The New Guard Vol. IX, and MWPA’s “Read and Loved” series; major permanent exhibitions at Mystic Seaport Museum and Maine Maritime Museum; and online exhibitions.
A graduate of the Stonecoast Creative Writing MFA program, Anne lives in mid-coast Maine.
